Why is RCC needed

Often, the first steps are the hardest to take. New immigrants need access to translators, government assistance and most of all: a community. Money raised by the RCC ensures that each individual or family receives the support they need the most, whether it’s help filling out a document or help finding a job. These needs can be simple and will be met with the support of our members and volunteers.


Russian immigrants differ by many degrees: the period in which they arrived in America, their ethnic identity, their religious identity, and their political perspective. Unfortunately these factors can often lead to segmentation and isolation in America. We believe that the separated nature of the Russian-American community undermines the great importance of its contributions to the American experience. There is a need to raise awareness of the contributions of Russian-Americans -and of Russian traditions and culture- in the American consciousness. Further, Russian-American children need the opportunity to learn about their heritage, so that they may grow into enthusiastic ambassadors of their culture.


Adults and children alike need education. The RCC provides language classes, help with citizenship applications and many other services that educate immigrants and prepare them for life in America. Many immigrants need to learn English but can’t afford expensive classes or audio courses. Entrepreneurs need a supportive Russian-American community to network with other businesses and mentorship to succeed like others before them.
